About Gabriella

Gabriella Zorzi Ryan, NCTM (Nationally Certified Teacher of Music), is originally from Italy, but has lived in the United States since she was 6 years old.  She has been a member of the Music Teachers National Association for over 25 years.  In this organization, she has held the Presidency of the Richmond Music Teachers Association and also of the Virginia Music Teachers Association.

Gabriella is a faculty member of St. Catherine's School for Girls, an organist for the West Richmond Church of the Brethren, and private piano teacher in Richmond, Virginia. She holds degrees from DePaul University in Mathematics, and from the Chicago Conservatory in Piano Performance.

In Gabriella’s teaching philosophy, she states:

“There is no other work that I’d rather do than teach piano.  It is a gift of the spirit to both the student and the teacher, for music is the universal language of feelings and emotions.”

She teaches all ages, from early beginners as young as 4 to late beginners as old as 80.  She also teaches students who are intermediate or advanced, and who wish to learn piano for pleasure or competition.  Piano study gives the student discipline, perseverance, confidence and poise in other life activities as well.  There are 2 recitals annually, along with judged festivals, Playathons, periodic group theory and performance classes, annual theory/sight reading tests, and a number of other musical growth opportunities to encourage students’ participation.  At the end of the academic year, students may elect to perform their repertoire for a judge in order to earn a trophy.  There is always the next goal awaiting the students as a motivational tool for practice and performance.
